After a restart of the Server where Columbus is installed, some Columbus Services do not work correctly anymore. The Columbus Console (CMC) may crash and the Firebird log would have lots of errors with the Number "10061".
Connection Failure with Columbus DB

This problem occurs, when Windows actively refuses a connection to the FireBird Database port 3050
To reserve this port for the communication with the Firebird database server the port entry "gds_db 3050/tcp" has to be added to the SERVICES file on computers, where the console, the infrastructure services or the client are running.
You will find the services file under [C:\Windows]\system32\drivers\etc.
- Make sure that the DB server and all other Infrastructure Servers have the entry for port 3050 in their services file
- You may also provide the database server entries in the HOSTS file on all infrastructures' servers and on the DB Server. If the database entries is also on every Clients HOSTS File this will incrase the Performance between Client and Database connection.
- Some Exchange services block the use of port 3050 even if one reserves this in the services file. Therefore it is not recommended to install Columbus in the same server where a MS Exchange server is installed.
